1. Policy Statement
At Portable Projects, we are committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, contractors, visitors, and members of the public affected by our operations. We believe that all workplace injuries and illnesses are preventable, and we strive to create a safe working environment by identifying and managing risks effectively.
2. Our Commitment
Portable Projects will:
• Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety where everyone feels responsible for maintaining a safe workplace.
• Provide adequate resources to implement and maintain effective health and safety management systems.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are in place.
• Train employees to understand their health and safety responsibilities and ensure they are competent to perform their tasks safely.
• Investigate all incidents to prevent reoccurrence and learn from them.
• Review and improve our health and safety systems regularly.
3. Responsibilities
Management Responsibilities:
• Lead by example in promoting a positive safety culture.
• Ensure that safety policies and procedures are understood, implemented, and maintained.
• Provide employees with suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce its use.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance.
Employee Responsibilities:
• Follow all safety procedures, instructions, and training provided.
• Use all tools, equipment, and PPE properly and report any defects.
• Immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to supervisors.
• Take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.
Contractor Responsibilities:
• Adhere to Portable Projects’ safety policies and procedures.
• Provide evidence of training and competence where required.
• Ensure all work is conducted safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
4. Risk Management
• Identify hazards through site assessments and task evaluations.
• Implement controls to eliminate or reduce risks where reasonably practicable.
• Maintain an up-to-date Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) for all projects.
• Ensure all equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and safe to use.
5. Communication and Training
• Provide safety inductions for all new employees and contractors.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks to address site-specific safety issues.
• Ensure all employees receive up-to-date training relevant to their roles.
• Display safety signage and emergency procedures prominently at all sites.
6. Emergency Preparedness
• Maintain a written emergency response plan, including procedures for fire, medical incidents, and evacuations.
• Ensure first aid kits are available and appropriately stocked on all sites.
• Designate trained first aiders and fire wardens for each project.
7. Monitoring and Review
• Regularly review the effectiveness of health and safety measures and update policies as needed.
• Record and analyze all incidents, near misses, and hazards to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Seek feedback from employees and contractors to ensure safety measures are practical and effective.
This policy will be communicated to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders. A copy of this document will be readily accessible at all sites. Adherence to this policy is mandatory and non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.
